How Much Does Slide Scanning Cost in Israel? The Full 2026 Price Guide

The short answer: professional slide scanning at our lab costs between 2.35 and 3.6 ILS per slide depending on scan resolution, with a 150 ILS minimum order. Across the Israeli market you will find anything from 1–2 ILS for fast automatic-feeder scanning up to 5 ILS and more per slide at veteran labs. The real difference is not the price — it is the method: automatic feeding versus manual scanning, one slide at a time.

The carousel tray from the attic, the yellow Kodachrome boxes from your parents' big trip — slides are usually the best photographs a family owns, because whoever shot slides in the sixties and seventies was a serious photographer. They are also fading. Here are all the numbers, with no surprises at the end.

Real calculation examples

So you do not need a calculator: 100 slides at 1200 DPI = 299 ILS. A full carousel tray (140 slides) at 2400 DPI = 504 ILS. 500 slides at 600 DPI = 1,175 ILS.

What actually determines the price?

Three things: resolution (how much information is pulled from each slide), scanning method (automatic or manual) and pre-scan care (manual dust cleaning, alignment, mold handling). A lab scanning at 1 ILS per slide is running an automatic feeder through dozens of slides in a row — no individual cleaning, no per-image exposure adjustment, and a real risk of a slide jamming in the mechanism.

Why do we scan manually instead of using an automatic feeder?

We scan on the Epson V850 Pro — Epson's professional flatbed with a dual-lens system — strictly by hand: every slide is cleaned, aligned and scanned one at a time in dedicated height-adjustable holders. A warped or thick-mounted slide gets an adjustment; in an automatic feeder it gets a jam. On films that support it we enable hardware dust-and-scratch removal (Digital ICE), and on Kodachrome — where ICE damages the image — we deliberately switch it off and scan clean. That is the difference between digitization and a production line. In the AI era it matters double — our full guide to scanning in the age of AI explains why. Our equipment and process are documented openly, and you are welcome to visit and watch it work.

How do you transfer slides to a computer?

At home you can photograph a slide against a lamp — and get an orange, distorted image. A real transfer requires a scanner with a dedicated transparency light source, a positive-film color profile, and print-grade resolution. Our process: you send or bring the slides (simple packing, original trays are fine), we scan, and you receive an organized download link with full-quality JPEG files, valid for a month. No discs needed.

How long does it take?

Small jobs — about 7 business days; large jobs — about 21 business days. Door-to-door courier pickup and return anywhere in Israel.

Frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to scan 100 slides?

235 ILS at basic resolution (600 DPI), 299 ILS at good resolution (1200 DPI) or 360 ILS at high resolution (2400 DPI) — including VAT, manual cleaning and a download link.

Which resolution should I choose?

For most families 1200 DPI is the sweet spot — enough for 4K screens and light enlargements. If you plan reprints or crops, choose 2400 DPI. 600 DPI fits viewing and sharing only.

My slides are dusty or stained — is that a problem?

No. Every slide is cleaned by hand before scanning, and where appropriate we enable hardware cleaning (Digital ICE) that removes dust and scratches at the scanner level. Moldy slides get more careful handling — tell us in advance.

Do you also scan negatives and printed photos?

Yes. Negatives — 49 ILS per 36-frame strip; printed photos — 0.79 ILS each loose and 0.89 ILS from albums, with a 150 ILS minimum order.

How do I receive the files?

Via an organized download link valid for a month. A copy on a USB drive, external disk or cloud is also available — whatever suits you.
